#2: Friends of the Bridegroom

Forerunners and Friends of the Bridegroom

“My highest joy is to see the Bridegroom receive the reward of His suffering.”

As we behold Jesus, we encounter the passionate love of the Bridegroom and begin to be filled with understanding of His desires. Like John the Baptist, we find ourselves ‘caught up’ in the storyline of the scriptures. This moves us to willingly lay down our individual ‘destinies’ and embrace a fasted lifestyle in the ‘wilderness’, posturing ourselves to be in agreement with His plan. It becomes our joy that the Bridegroom will receive the Bride He deserves - A mature church from every tribe, nation, and tongue. We will remain unoffended till the end, even if we do not see the fruit of our labour in our lifetime.

Scripture: Matthew 11:1-19, John 3:22-36, Isaiah 40:1-5, Malachi 3-4, Song of Songs 8.

Reflection questions:

How can I tarry with the Bridegroom and His desire?
