Jesus is Worthy of Extravagant Worship
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive worship from all tribes and nations.”

All things were created for Jesus, and He is altogether worthy (Col 1:16). The Lord is self-sufficient, yet He takes delight in our wholehearted love. As He reveals His beauty and glory, we are moved to respond with extravagant worship: to ‘waste our lives’ on Him like Mary of Bethany, and shift our priorities as we grow to desire ‘one thing’ (Psalm 27:4). The house of prayer is our response to build a resting place where the incense of prayer and worship is lifted up. As we corporately behold the slain lamb, we become transformed into His likeness.
Scripture: Psalm 27:4, 132, 2 Samuel 7, Isaiah 56:7, Malachi 1:11, Mark 14:1-9, Revelation 4-5, 2 Corinthians 3:18.
Reflection Questions:
Why does the uncreated, self-sufficient God desire (and even go so far as to) demand worship?
What does extravagance look like for me? Is there anything that I need to wrestle with to come to a place of extravagant worship?
